About Andrew Travers
I have worked in specialist recruitment and executive search since 2008, supporting businesses across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and technology.
My approach is built around understanding the business behind each appointment, the people involved and what makes a particular search difficult.
Background & Experience
I began working in recruitment in 2008, developing my experience in specialist and executive search before establishing an independent practice in 2012.
My work has included senior management, commercial and specialist technical appointments across industrial manufacturing, engineering, procurement, supply chain and technology.
Over the years, I have worked with businesses operating internationally, often where a position requires an understanding of different markets, technical disciplines and organisational structures.
How I work
I work directly with clients throughout an assignment, from the initial discussion through to identifying, approaching and evaluating potential candidates.
I start by understanding the business situation behind the vacancy, not simply the job description. This includes the reporting relationships, technical requirements, commercial priorities and the reasons a suitable person may be difficult to find.
I favour direct conversations, targeted research and a realistic assessment of the available market.
When requirements or expectations need challenging, I prefer to discuss them early rather than pursue a search on assumptions that may not hold.
What Matters in a Search
A successful search isn’t just about finding someone who looks right on paper. The right person also needs to understand the business, work well with the people around them, and be able to handle the challenges the role brings.
I’m also realistic about what the market can offer. Salary expectations, location, reporting lines, and the mix of skills required all affect a search. It’s much better to discuss these openly from the start than to discover them when you’re close to making a hire.
Discuss a Search Assignment
If you are considering a senior appointment, building a team or facing a difficult-to-fill position, I would welcome a conversation about the requirements and how I might help.
